So this is the zombie survival map I've been creating, exclusively for Alias gaming, pretty much finished. Every so often I may update it to a new build if the community has any specific requests, or if large bugs/exploits are found - if so, then the download will be available here.
It is themed around the interior of a nuclear power station, with sections of waste disposal, catwalks, factory-like rooms, storage rooms, offices and hallways.
This map features:
- A strategically-designed layout which fits several different play styles, each with advantages and disadvantages for balance. This means there is a mix of large and small rooms, places to barricade and places to flee, dodge and run around in, places to hide or sneak past things, et cetera. Props are placed in abundance for effective barricades and some interactive parts of the map (described below) can be combined with player-built barricades to fend off zombies for several rounds. Human-size vents and headcrab-size vents have also been wired across the map to balance the zombie classes, meaning players can have totally unique experiences every round, and headcrabs become more useful by being able to fit through smaller spaces to sneak past barricades.
- A player-map interactivity higher than any existing map: the map is more interesting and dynamic than regular maps, as players can use various buttons or triggers to change how the map works. For instance, a valve in one hallway can be toggled on/off with E to create a steam geyser type thing, which pushes away players and zombies alike - it cannot be destroyed. There are flaws in each and ways around for balance, though when utilised well they make gameplay much more unique per round
- Detailed, interesting and good-looking aesthetics which make for an immersive and realistic zombie apocalypse ambience. Small details like chunks of debris and scattered barrels have been hand-placed for the best effect, and I've used various intensities and colours of lighting to create different moods depending on the player's location within the map. Images are available below.
And, of course, the secret keypad combination to unlock the rave room is known only by me ;D let's get this party started...
